Thanks for sharing, but the reality is that most people can’t make that jump to condo anyway, especially if they have a family and are looking to have more children. All these costs add up. Of course, appreciation is nice, but the goodviews also couldn’t take that risk since their budget was initially set to purchase an HDB. There are many risk factors I am sure the goodviews have considered. Perhaps they should be called the conservatives instead!

I’m skeptical on the valuation of the penthouse unit at Suites @ Orchard. Because I’m guessing that it probably doesn’t take into account that this is a penthouse unit with substantial wasted space (roof terrace). Generally, the psf of a penthouse/ground floor with patio is much lower than a regular unit.

Exactly, this is not a good example at all, extremely misleading

So, what’s the conclusion after all the diarrhea of words? Oh, you mean, “sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but no worries, everyone’s happy” ? Alright. Cool.

Hi there! In our article, we highlighted 2 case studies to show that there is no right and wrong – what matters is your priorities. No one, whether it’s an agent, a friend, a family member or us can tell you whether to buy for capital appreciation or buy based on your personal preferences – it’s really up to you.

People can provide their opinion and options, but that’s all they are – just options. The key takeaway here is to set your priorities first – you’ll be amazed to see how many people let others decide their priorities for them and they go with it, only to regret them later on.

One example would be a couple at 30 deciding between a BTO, resale or buying a small condo first (Based on their budget). Some will say “Don’t buy a resale flat, you’ll lose money!”.

Yes, perhaps – but if making money from property isn’t a priority, but a bigger space at an affordable price point is, then this advice wouldn’t suit the person well.

Others will say “Get a BTO, it’s subsidised anyway, just try your luck!” – but do they really want to be bogged down by a property for 8-9 years (build 4 years + MOP 5 years)?

That being said, we would look into making the conclusion clearer so it wouldn’t leave readers confused at the end of the article. Thank you.
